Policy Terms

Please read this Policy carefully to understand how the Second Chance Fund is managed, how contributions are handled and how financial assistance is considered.

01

Introduction

The Second Chance Fund ('SCF') is a privately operated animal welfare support initiative established, owned and managed by Bright Tails Ltd ('Bright Tails', 'the Company', 'we', 'us' or 'our').

The purpose of the Second Chance Fund is to support animal welfare organisations, rescue centres, kennels and other eligible animal-related initiatives through voluntary financial contributions and other forms of assistance.

Bright Tails is committed to supporting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership while maintaining transparency, financial accountability and responsible business practices.

The Second Chance Fund is not a registered charity, charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), community interest company (CIC), trust, insurance scheme or independently regulated charitable fund.

The Fund operates as an internal company initiative and remains under the ownership, administration and control of Bright Tails Ltd.

02

Legal Status and Ownership

2.1. The Second Chance Fund is a private initiative operated by Bright Tails Ltd and does not possess a separate legal identity from the Company.

2.2. Money allocated, received or designated for the Second Chance Fund is administered by Bright Tails Ltd, subject to applicable law and any binding terms governing particular contributions.

2.3. The Fund is not a public fund, statutory compensation scheme, regulated investment arrangement or financial protection product.

2.4. No person, organisation, contributor or Bright Tails member acquires an ownership interest in the Company merely by contributing to or supporting the initiative.

2.5. Bright Tails retains responsibility for the administration, management, allocation and distribution of financial assistance through the Fund.

2.6. The Fund does not operate independently of Bright Tails Ltd and is subject to the Company's applicable financial, accounting and legal obligations.

03

Funding and Company Contributions

3.1. Bright Tails Ltd commits to allocating 10% of its total recognised company revenue to the Second Chance Fund to support eligible animal welfare initiatives.

3.2. For the purposes of this Policy, revenue means the Company's recognised revenue excluding VAT and other taxes collected on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs, where applicable.

3.3. The 10% allocation is an internal company funding commitment and does not represent a separate charge, levy, premium or compulsory contribution payable by Bright Tails members.

3.4. Allocations will be recorded within the Company's internal financial records.

3.5. The Company may maintain internal accounting records identifying amounts designated for the Second Chance Fund. Such records do not, by themselves, create a separate legal fund, trust or protected financial account.

3.6. Funding commitments remain subject to applicable law, the Company's financial obligations and its ability to meet liabilities as they fall due.

3.7. Any prospective change to the stated 10% funding commitment will be reflected in an updated Policy. Changes will not retrospectively reduce allocations already committed under this Policy.

04

Voluntary Contributions and Donations

4.1. Bright Tails may accept voluntary financial contributions from individuals, members, businesses and other third parties wishing to support the Second Chance Fund.

4.2. Contributions are made voluntarily and do not constitute membership payments, insurance premiums, investments, deposits or payments for regulated financial services.

4.3. Bright Tails Ltd is not a registered charity. Contributions made to the Second Chance Fund are not donations to a registered charity.

4.4. Contributions received by Bright Tails will be accounted for in accordance with applicable UK accounting and taxation requirements. Their precise tax treatment depends on the nature of the payment and relevant circumstances.

4.5. Contributors should not assume that payments qualify for Gift Aid, charitable tax relief or any other tax benefit.

4.6. Bright Tails does not operate a charitable Gift Aid scheme and will not represent contributions as Gift Aid eligible.

4.7. Contributions are received by Bright Tails Ltd and designated for use in connection with the Second Chance Fund, subject to applicable law and any conditions accepted when the contribution is made.

4.8. Unless otherwise required by law or expressly agreed in writing, voluntary contributions are generally non-refundable once received.

4.9. Contributors do not receive any guaranteed financial return, repayment, reward or entitlement to influence individual funding decisions.

6.7. Submission of an application does not establish any contractual entitlement to receive assistance.

07

Discretionary Funding Decisions

7.1. All financial assistance provided through the Second Chance Fund is discretionary.

7.2. No organisation, individual, member or contributor is guaranteed financial assistance merely because they meet the eligibility criteria.

7.3. Bright Tails retains discretion over the timing, amount, recipient and purpose of financial contributions, subject to applicable law and any binding commitments already made.

7.4. The Company may decline an application where funding is unavailable, documentation is insufficient, eligibility cannot be verified or the proposed use is inconsistent with the Fund's objectives.

7.5. The Company may impose reasonable conditions on an approved contribution, including requirements relating to its use and supporting evidence.

8.5. Bright Tails will maintain appropriate records of financial contributions, internal allocations and assistance provided.

8.6. Expenditure associated with administering the initiative will be recorded appropriately and distinguished from direct assistance to recipients.

8.7. Bright Tails will not knowingly make false or misleading representations concerning the amount of funding available, the amount distributed or the legal status of the Fund.
